On any given night, it is estimated that there are 4,000 individuals who are homeless in Baltimore. Women and children are the fastest growing homeless population, comprising 43 percent of all individuals in need of shelter. Baltimore Outreach Services (BOS) was formed in 2003 to meet the needs of these homeless women and children. The shelter in the basement of Christ Lutheran Church houses forty women and children and is one of four shelters that serve this population in Baltimore City.
The mission of Baltimore Outreach Services, Inc. is to provide comprehensive services and programs to homeless women and their children. These services include emergency shelter, supportive housing, educational programming, health and mental health services, job training and employment counseling.
The BOS Board of Directors is comprised of 16 members who serve a four year term. Half of the Board of Directors is comprised of Christ Church members and half is comprised of community members.
