Christ Church, founded in 1887, is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America serving people in Baltimore and around the world.

A small sampling of our ministries include a 40-bed homeless shelter for women and children in our church building, a nursery school for 2-4 year olds, extensive programs for teenagers, reading programs in local public elementary schools, AA and Al-Anon meetings, adult education and fellowship programs, vibrant Sunday School program, health ministry programs, mission projects in Tanzania, Colombia, Russia, and India, and 288-units of housing for low and moderate income senior citizens.

Worship is offered on Wednesdays as well as Sundays. Holy Communion is offered at all Sunday services and Wednesday evening. All baptized Christians are invited by the Lord to share faithfully in the Holy Communion at our festive Eucharists. For those who desire it, personal prayer with anointing is available every Sunday at the traditional services during the reception of the Sacrament and at the Wednesday morning services laying-on of hands with prayers for health is available.

Mission Statement

Christ Lutheran Church is an assembly of baptized believers in Jesus Christ, called, gathered, and enlightened by the Holy Spirit through the Word and the Sacraments. As a metropolitan congregation of the Delaware-Maryland Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, it has a mission as a leader that is local, regional, national and international. That mission includes the following:

1. To offer the best worship experience possible in keeping with the Lutheran understanding of the Word and Sacraments and with Lutheran tradition;

2. To be an inclusive congregation inviting all to come to faith in Jesus Christ, to share our gospel vision and to be part of our mission;

3. To educate all our members, helping them to grow in faith in Jesus Christ and to relate that faith to life;

4. To serve the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of members and non-members alike, to be an advocate for justice and a loving presence in the lives of those who are hurt or hurting;

5. To encourage our members to be good stewards of their time, talents and treasures in response to God's love, to the church's mission locally and throughout the world, and to human need.
