Worship With Us
Whether you are a visitor to the city or a long-time resident, we invite you to celebrate in and share the good news of God’s saving grace. As a uniquely metropolitan congregation, the people of Christ Lutheran Church are called to proclaim the Gospel, serve others and invite all to experience God’s love and saving grace. Our congregation is a lively, welcoming place in the heart of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, and you are invited to be a part of it!
Sunday mornings feature three opportunities for worship: two formal services at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. that feature organ and choir, and a relaxed contemporary service at 8:45 a.m. during the school year and 9:45 a.m. during the summer. On Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m. and 7:15 p.m., the chapel doors open for prayer and candlelight services. Holy Communion is offered at all services.
Grow With Us
We have playgroups on weekday mornings for infants and toddlers, and a nursery school program for two-, three-, and four-year-olds. We also have Sunday morning classes for all ages, after-school tutoring in the neighborhood for students and English-language learners, and summer activities for children and youth. We offer our middle- and high-school students and their families unique opportunities to grow and contribute through service projects, retreats, youth gatherings and Sunday-morning programs. There are specialized learning, fellowship, health and well-being opportunities for all ages and abilities, on both Sundays and weekdays, to enrich the body, mind and spirit.
Serve With Us
For over 125 years, Christ Lutheran Church has been a safe haven for our neighbors in need. We maintain an apartment complex that provides housing and support for senior citizens. We operate an emergency shelter for homeless women and children, and we are committed to assisting these families on the road to economic independence. The church offers space and collaboration to our friends in the Federal Hill, Otterbein and South Baltimore communities who use our building for meetings, classes and art exhibitions. We also host the Hafenmusik (Music by the Harbor) and Bach in Baltimore concert series. Through hands-on efforts and monetary donations, we actively support ministry, both locally and globally.
Christ Church offers a three-week “new member” class for anyone who would like to know more about the life and ministries of the congregation. During these sessions, participants are introduced to the ministries of Christ Church, meet the staff and pastors and learn about the building and our history in Baltimore. If you have any questions, speak to one of our pastors or contact Pastor Amsalu Geleta at email@example.com or call the church office at 410-752-7179. Your presence among us is a blessing.
